FROM SHOOT)
Our vision for this community education project is to explore a
“Day in the Life of the Artist”. This documentary will go behind
the scenes and into the lives of visual artists and musicians to
experience their creative processes. The result of our project
will be an educational video providing viewers the opportunity
to see and experience visual content which otherwise would never
be available to them.
Glass Artists – coming winter 2007
The first installment of this series will explore the dramatic
media of sculpture glass with some of Seattle’s most innovative
and inspired artists. This is a world of scorching furnaces,
molten hot glass, quick thinking and focused inspiration. In the
words of Aaron Tate, one of the featured artists, “Glass is a
fundamentally special medium.” Glass is able to move from a
liquid to a solid in mere moments, making each movement to and
from the heat source, extremely important and vital to the final
outcome.
This documentary will bring you into a day in the studio,
otherwise known as the “Hot Shop”. We will follow four artists
as they work through their creative process. The process will
unfold right before us, to reveal each moment that goes into
creating a piece art. You will also see the tools, people and
places that make it possible for these artists’ to execute their
vision.
As you will see in this documentary, art, such as life, can make
unexpected twists will force you to release any preconceptions
or expectation you may have had, in order to achieve the best
outcome for the final piece. Let go and be open to the
possibilities you may not
have seen. The outcome of such honesty
can become something more beautiful that you could ever imagine.
Even better yet,
is the situation of collaboration. See what
happens when four artists, with unique vision and talents, come
together on the
same level, for the same purpose – to create a
collaborative piece of art.
